What surprises me, and should surprise you, is that EA - of all companies - is seeing a glimmer of light in a market they have completely written off for the past decade. That kind of stuff is their bread and butter. I'm not surprised that a company like Sony would invest in a big remake for a game like The Last of Us, that's less than ten years old. Success = higher budget, more investment in similar titles (not limited to horror). They are willing to take this risk because they could justify the budget (for what is very much considered an experiment) based on the success of the genre games mentioned above.This is an exercise in franchise sustainability moving forward. They do not care if you can mod it on the PC to be prettier. They do not care if you've played it before.This is EA looking at the success of the Resident Evil remakes and Jedi Fallen Order and evaluating if there's still a market for them in the single-player, non-GaaS market."Do you want more Dead Space? This is the Dead Space we're willing to put in front of you at the moment. This is a product being put out to directly test the audience.It's as dead as its been since Dead Space 3 killed the franchise in 2013. If this doesn't sell well, there are no more remakes, no sequels.
